my healthy little boy

I worked today. Not a bad day at work, but there was a really really sick little baby today. And not the sick that will get better over time. Many many problems with this little one. Makes my heart ache. For the baby yes, but today it was mostly for the mom. What do you say to her? How do you even begin to comfort her? Her first baby. I can't even imagine it.

Being at work makes me long for Roman. To hold him and hug him and kiss him and thank our Father in Heaven that he is a healthy little boy. So everyone hug their kiddos an extra time today and be thankful they are healthy.

That's a tough call Whit. I don't know yet, because I'm not there, but I can tell you, I am already head-over-heels for this little guy, and I haven't had him yet. You get attached so easily. You have a tough job, one I could not do.

oooh I couldn't do what you do. Work with those mothers and fathers that have sick kids. It would be so hard. Snuggle that little boy!!!

Having been the mom of a sick baby in the SCN I can tell you that the greatest source of comfort from our nurses was the calm way they dealt with the problems. Whether it was Rhett having tubes, IVs, and a lot of desats or the baby next to us needing a blood transfusion. You do an amazing job and I can guarantee you that the parents whose babes you help appreciate everything you do - whether they tell you so or not. And yes, it does make you thankful for the healthy children you do have. Thanks to our Heavenly Father and all of the talented nurses and docs here in Red Deer you would never guess that Rhett was a 36 weeker who spent 12 days in the hospital. So I'll say thanks for all the parents who forget to thank you! Thanks Whitney!
